Last week, Tip Whip expanded to another school. The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is now officially the newest campus to join the Tip Whip team. A meeting with UMF students and faculty on Tuesday proved that Tip Whip will have a significant impact on their community. There is a lack of transportation around Farmington right now; there is no Uber or Lyft and just a single taxi! Without Tip Whip, walking in the cold or catching a ride with a friend who “only had a couple drinks” may seem like the best alternatives. Moreover, while UMF may be a smaller school, students living off campus are widely dispersed and are often too far away from campus or local stores to walk. Tip Whip sees this as an unique opportunity to broaden its brand to include not just safe rides home after a rowdy night out, but also convenient rides to class or the grocery store. Tip Whip’s first UMF driver is already signed up and on the road!
The launch of DelWhip was also a prominent highlight last week. DelWhip is an online food ordering service that allows users to order food from local restaurants and have it delivered right to their doorstep. While DelWhip is not just limited to students, this could not have come at a more convenient time for UMaine students. With final exams underway and students cooped up in the library all day studying, it is easy to run out of time to make dinner. Now, students can jump on to delwhip.com, check out participating restaurants’ menus and, with just the click of a button, have DelWhip bring their favorite foods right to their doorstep! While DelWhip cannot promise students that they will pass their finals, DelWhip can promise to deliver them the food that they need to fuel their efforts!
Finally, as we head into this week, new Tip Whip app updates are being released. Android users can expect to see them in the next few days while iPhone users will see them in a few weeks. The new features include color coded cars, landmark locations, new ad space, and, for randomly selected riders, a surprise promo code when they ride with Tip Whip.
Thank you all for your continued support and patience as Tip Whip works to strengthen its presence across the country and seek out new opportunities, including food delivery, to make college and university communities safer and more connected places to live. Here’s to a successful final exam week and a happy holiday season!
Cheers,
The Tip Whip Team
